( a surprised impressionistic view of using video. I began to be interested in video and film making in 1976, and studied two years of audio visual techniques in Canada. In 1980 I took one course of film-making in Edinburgh, Scotland with a documentary film director. I was then more interested in fixed camera, alternating with photographic images, though my real interst was in the spirtual content of the story I narrated. The idea of using chance images such as this one came about in 2000 during a revisit to Guilin, China. But that project of using motioned images together with transformations of ancient Chinese characters in a natural setting never got to realise ; I went back to painting again )
