linocut print, the dragon and the phoenix
proofed in limited editions by myself, for my wedding
the dragon and the phoenix motive was to match a dress my mother designed for me: a Chinese traditional dress, with palettes-figures of the dragon on the front, and phoenix at the back
the palettes were of pastel colors, handsewn on white satin as my father warned me: never wear white at a wedding
Cultural symbols and beliefs are always different
So the colored palettes were an illusionist device, to make the white satin not so white, in order to be able to be accepted by the culture of the Church and the culture of my father
