scholarship

by the Edinburgh College of Art

and the notebook

was to be kept there

at the College after the trip

the third time

to Italy

I made no travelling

notebook

I was no longer

a traveller

I stationed in Florence

as a permanent

student

thirty three years later

I am still in Italy

always

as a student

to note my

daily

life

with sketches

with i movie trailers

with installations

with paintings

with

writing

with

finally

a new travelling

notebook

in the quality

a tourist

to see

afresh

these images of

the towns

I know too well

yet not at all

at the same time
