linocut prints were made after having taken the courses of printmaking with Professor A.Manfredi at the Accademia di belle arti di Firenze, between 1987-1989, Florence, Italy

the print making procedure taught by Manfredi was singular: each print was seen as a unique entity- which actually means each linocut print was proofed with the artist's intervention at each stage- the determination of each passage, whether it is tone wise or color wise is unique, allowing no reproduction of exact copies, though based on the main matrix- the departing image

the method is closer to painting, and therefore, delightful to work with, replacing the more mechanical method of making exact copies of an artist's proof, something that I came to equate it to a closer to numbling of creative process

An experience with such a process led to another experience: assisting the creations of linocut prints in the form of handmade limted edition book

- The Big and the small was published by Mavida from Reggio Emilia,  with my participating as the artist who provided the prints, as well as the contributing of each single color and tones realised through each single passage- the result was a book with fifty five editions ,( and some delux editions) each one being different from the other. Each book is therefore unique.
